In November 2022, I was invited to be on a panel discussion alongside several notable social design practitioners to share my perspective and experiences on co-creation practices, the role of lived experiences in our work, and the politics of caring. I enjoyed sharing snippets from my work around community engagement, trust building, and crafting meaningful conversations. The event was a beautiful shared space for us all, learners and practitioners alike, to take inspiration from not only the speakers but also each other in overcoming the challenges we all face in our work in the social sector.

As part of my master’s thesis show, I was on a panel discussion about Race, Gender, Equity and Inclusion moderated by Rasmia Kirmani Frye, founder of the Fund for Public housing. We spoke about applying an equity and inclusion lens to wicked social problems through our thesis projects.

During the Covid-19 lockdown, I co-facilitated a conversation on “The role of self-reflection in our practice as designers”. This was part of a series of workshops, the proceeds of which went towards various initiatives like animal welfare, clean drinking water and sanitation during the pandemic.

This was a space to reflect on their vision for the future and express the uncertainties and fears that they had been navigating for the past few months. A space to talk, share, ideate, and find that starting point for designing a new normal.
